Once your credit has been depleted then you would get cut off right away. This is one way of controlling the amount you pay for using the services phone companies provide. The setback with this is, unlike postpaid plans, you have a limited credit.
International Calls: Prepaid Calling VS Postpaid Calling
This is not actually about which one is better when it comes to international rates. Yes it is true that some prepaid companies who offer cheaper rates for international calls but there are also postpaid companies who offer much, much cheaper rates. This one actually depends on which company you choose.
The real issue here is if you control yourself when you make that call. If you are using a postpaid plan while making international calls and you just can't control yourself from talking and talking then this would really end up badly. This scenario is not possible with prepaid cards though. Once your credit is gone, that's it. But if you have control, even if you have a postpaid plan then you will not have any problems.
In conclusion, defining which one is better, prepaid or postpaid, all depends on who is using it.
